The Dance

You appeared like from dreams

Bathed in the color of passion

Taking my hand

We danced upon dew-stained grass

In the forest of our imagination

Wild with promise and life

The music swelled

Till it drowned out gathering storms

That fell first as a trickle

But in our rush for shelter

We tripped over hidden tree roots

And as gentle turned torrential

I watched you melt away

Like wax into twilight

Never to be seen again
